About Badrinath
It gets its name from the Badrinath Temple and it is a holy town and a nagar panchayat in Chamoli district in Uttarakhand state. It is one of the four sites in India’s Char Dham pilgrimage.
Badrinath Temple
1)In the 8century it was re-established by Adi shankara. In earlier days, pilgrims used to walk hundreds of miles to visit Badrinath temple.
2) Badri refers to a berry that was apparently said to grow abundantly in the area, and nath means Lord.
3)Badri is also the Sanskrit name for the Indian Jujube tree, which has an edible berry. Some scriptural references refer to Jujube trees being abundant in Badrinath.
Best Time To Visit :-
1)Best time to visit is October to april when the weather is winter and snowy and temperature ranges from 6-25°C.
2)In summer best time to visit is april to june when the weather is sunny and warm and temperature rises from 19-29°C.
3)You can also visit in monsoon season that is july to September when the temperature is 20-27°C.

Story behind
According to legend Shankar discovered a black stone image of Lord Badrinarayan made of Saligram stone in the Alaknanda River. He originally enshrined it in a cave near the Tapt Kund hot springs. In the sixteenth century, the King of Garhwal moved the murti to the temple.The temple is almost 50 ft (15 m) tall with a small cupola on top, covered with a gold gilt roof.
ATTRACTIONS
1) Vasundhara Falls
It is a waterfall located in Mana Village at a distance of 9km from Badrinath. The fall meets with the Alaknanda river at an altitude of 12,000 feet. It is believed to have been the resting place of the Pandavas. It can be reached by trekking for 6km
2) Neelkantha
Itis a major peak in the Garhwal division of the Uttarkhand. At a height of 6507 masl, it is one of the most important and religiously revered peaks of the region due to its close proximity to Badrinath.
3)Tapt kund
It is Believed to be the home of Lord Agni,and it is a natural hot water spring near the Badrinath Temple, heating to 45 degrees Celsius. The water of the kund is believed to have medicinal properties, that cures various skin diseases. It is believed that devotees take a dip in the Tapt Kund before visiting Badrinath Temple.
4) Bheem Pul
As the name indicating it is believed that it was discovered by Bheem one of the pandva ,when they are crossing the river.It is a natural stone bridge on River Saraswati near Badrinath.
5) Badrinath temple
It is dedicated to Lord vishnu and also it is one of the four Char Dham and Chota Dham pilgrimage vastras,Perched on the Garhwal hill tracks, near Alaknanda.
6) Charanpaduka
It is believed to be the imprints of Lord Vishnu’s footprints, Charanpaduka is a rock at the of top 3380 ft, located at a distance of 3 km from Badrinath. It can be reached after an arduous trek. People believe that Lord Vishnu set his foot first on earth here.
